Last year I had the opportunity to concept and art direct the photo shoot for the yearly calendar for EMPLOYERS Insurance. EMPLOYERS tagline is America’s Small Business Insurance Specialists, so it made perfect sense the create American flags for the calendar relating to the types of small businesses that EMPLOYERS covers. The plastic flag also just won a National Silver ADDY Award.

The “Renown Health Foundation Jack Donor Gifts,” won in the category of booklet/brochure/pamphlet. It consisted of customized booklets that were given to prospective donors for Renown Children’s Hospital. While concepting for this brochure, this one thought kept coming back to me. Our job is to get these kids out of the hospital and back to their jobs – Playing.  Many games came to mind but the concept of Jacks won out.

The pages of the brochure is bound together by a think red rubber band and an image of a bouncing red ball appeared on each page of the brochure, leading the reader from page to page. The booklets were placed inside an embroidered “Jack” bag which was then tied to a giant purple metal jack and distributed to potential donors.

So this summer I spent one of my afternoon photographing the first annual Community Glenn Group Take Your Dog to Work Day. It was a pretty fun afternoon and all the dogs got along just fine.

Our dad used to say Good Enough for Government Work when he wanted to wrap up a project. We actually like to think that this project for the Nevada Office of Veterans Services is not only good enough, but just plain old good work. And it cost a whole lot less than those toilets for the space station that everyone is talking about. Plus it has a few cool features, like a powerful easy-to-use Content Management System (CMS) and an integrated Flickr photo feed. Take that NASA!

A website redesign for Truckee fly fishing guide Matt “Gilligan” Koles.

We were told of stories of a man in Truckee who slays giants, well now we have pictures. Take a look, Matt puts his clients onto some really nice fish.

Be sure to ask Matt how his website went from a dried up old fishing hole to the sweet honey hole, strictly SEO wise, mind you.
